Caprossa, who is owned by the Deputy Chairman of the Murrumbidgee Turf Club Michael Inglis, scored an impressive first up win at Wagga this afternoon. Caprossa showed great ability in her first preparation winning her barrier trial last December but needed time to mature. She was given a short spell and has returned a more mature 3YO who is now ready to race. Today at her first start, she was drawn wide but she jumped well and Jeff Penza, who is great with inexperienced horses, steadied her and eased her around the turn before asking her for her supreme effort. She gave it to him at the 150 metre mark and she sprinted clear to win well by two and three-quarter lengths in the smart time of 57.51 seconds. She is likely to back up at the main Wagga carnival on 3-4 May. |
